In the state of Georgia, a special-purpose local-option sales tax (SPLOST) can be levied by any county, for the purpose of funding the building and maintenance of parks, schools, roads, and other public facilities. . A SPLOST is passed by a county commission and voted up or down by residents in a referendum, usually during the next scheduled election.
The 2006 SPLOST package totals

SPLOST COMMITTEE UPDATE
The most recent SPLOST Committee update meeting was held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at The Forum.
During the Committee Updates, the City of Cave Spring, City of Rome, Floyd County and Floyd County Parks & Recreation Authority will update committee members and citizens of their respective projects and provide pictures of progress, if applicable. Please view the documents below for updates.
